The Inner Journey of Art Journaling

How to Make and Keep an Art Journal for Excavation, Insight, and Wholing Yourself | taught by Terri Altschul

Course description

"It takes courage to endure the sharp pains of self discovery, rather than choose to take the dull pain of unconsciousness that would last the rest of our lives."  --Marianne Williamson

New 7-WEEK Program Introducing You To:

"THE INNER JOURNEY OF ART JOURNALING" BEGINS ON October 17th

How to Make and Keep a Mixed Media Art Journal for

Excavation, Insight, and Wholing Yourself

This program is about awakening your creativity and using that creativity to get inspired about life.

Without our creativity, we are incomplete.  We lack the wholeness that will enable us to reach out for true joy.  One of the great blessings of the creative process is that we gain access to who we really are.

The Journey Inward

There is a silent language within all of us that reveals the truth of our thoughts, feelings, and emotions far more fluently than words. That language is imagery.

Art journaling uses one’s inner vision to imagine what a thought, feeling, or emotional reaction would look like if it were expressed as a color, shape, or image.

Explaining in words how you feel when you lose a loved one or when you fall in love is for most of us an impossible task.  Words simply can’t describe such an experience.  But images can – and with a depth that words cannot achieve.

Art Journaling is a gentle, safe and private space.  Only you know what your images mean.  You go at the pace that feels right for you allowing your intuition to speak.

Here are some of the many benefits you will receive from a practice of art journaling:

•increase self-awareness

•learn about your patterns

•reduce stress

•release anger

•resolve conflicts

•get in touch with feelings

•overcome fear

•healing

•transform

•access your inner wisdom

•give voice to your soul

•approach freedom

•release trapped energy

•access deeper knowing

•discover gifts

The Inner Journey of Art Journaling takes you into our 7-step process.  You will be guided through each step of our framework for Inner Journeying that guides you from an inner vision, to responding with art materials, to making meaning.  You will also learn fun art journal techniques as you practice in your journal to create backgrounds and add layers with stencils, stamps, words and collage.

This program does not require any artistic experience. We'll use a mixed media approach, many of the supplies you might already have around the house or can easily purchase at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, or Amazon.

As we work with journal prompts - colors, symbols and images emerge. Over the course of the program you will experience transformation of your emotions, beliefs, self-identify, and possibly, even a new relationship to the Sacred within you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1.  When and where is the class?

The Inner Journey of Art Journaling  begins on October 17th, 2017 and runs for a total of twelve weeks:  that's 7 weeks of instruction + 5 additional weeks of support.  You have lifetime access to all course materials. This is an online course and can be accessed from anywhere in the world where high speed internet is available.  Our live video calls will be available through Zoom - where you will click a link and be live with the other program participants.

2.  What are the differences between this program and buying an art journaling book?

Great question! In a nutshell, The Inner Journey of Art Journaling differs from art journaling books in that it focuses on integrating creativity into your everyday life through accessible, “table top,” mixed media creative exercises, creative visualization, identifying symbols and metaphors that show up in your daily life, and holistic daily practices.  You will also learn art journaling techniques to help along this journey and I will share with you my own process for facing the blank page.

3.  How do I know if this program is for me?

This course is for you if …

  • You want to awaken your creativity.
  • You want to express an inner vision.
  • You have a part of yourself that wants to be fully expressed.
  • You are ready to see how the past is living in your present.
  • You sense that there is more than your external circumstances that are holding you back.
  • You want to release your voice and stop conflating, shrinking, or withdrawing.
  • You want to feel joyful and fully alive.
  • You ready to release your emotional armoring and allow your true self to show.
  • You have a yearning to connect with your deeper feminine nature.

In Art Journaling, we're not creating finished pieces of art.  The pieces are for you.  This course is NOT for you if you are looking for a course on specific painting techniques or guidance around creating finished pieces of art.

4.  Will I be able to communicate during the program?

You bet!  You will have access to the secret Facebook Community where you can connect with other program participants, share images and reflections based on the exercises and prompts offered in the program, ask questions, and receive inspiration. This community space is open to all current Women Connected Art Journaling students (more students will continue to join the group with the next iteration of the program). This community provides a wonderful and inspiring place to connect and share your Inner Journey experience. It will remain open indefinitely.

5.  Will I be able to ask Terri questions?

There will be three live video calls throughout the program where you’ll be able to ask questions, receive feedback, guidance, and support. If you miss these calls, you’ll be able to watch the recorded version at a later time. The secret Facebook group will also be a wonderful forum for asking questions and getting feedback from Terri as well as your fellow sojourners.

For any technical issues, just click on the "Help" button in the course portal.

6.  How much physical space do I need?

The Inner Journey of Art Journaling was designed to fit easily into your life without the need for a messy studio space. All the creative exercises can be done right at your kitchen table!

7.  How much time will I need?

Each week has an average of four lessons per week that will each take approximately 10-30 minutes to complete (this includes reading/watching the content, then doing the exercise). I also encourage participants to spend at least five minutes with their journal daily.

8.  How do I access the course material?

Once you’ve purchased the program, you’ll gain immediate access to the program overview where you will find the materials list, and some exercises to get the juices flowing while you're waiting for the program to begin.  Then on October 17th, you'll receive an email with a link to the first lesson.  Each week for 7 weeks you'll receive an email with a link to the new lesson filled with inspiration, art journal techniques, and prompts to deepen your awakening.

9.  What is your refund policy?

We have a payment plans to make the course affordable.  If the course does not meet your expectations, we are happy to give you a full refund within one week of your purchase. After that, there are no refunds or extensions for this course.  Thank you for understanding.

WHAT WOMEN ARE SAYING ABOUT WORKING WITH TERRI

Terri has created one of the best online learning platforms I have experienced. She is an excellent coach, facilitator, and learning leader and throughout the course she gently guided us through our personal development journey. The tools and resources she created allowed all of us to have a safe space to do some really deep work. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone that might feel stuck in life or is ready to tackle that self-improvement goal that has proven to be elusive. She is the best!” --Linda D., Leadership Coach

I have found that women can find it difficult to have relationships that are non-judgmental, authentic and supportive with other women. When they do have those relationships it is often with people who are/have experienced a similar path in life with them and the relationships are more surface than profound. Women connected hits this issue at the core.

Through the design of the program and caring facilitation of Terri, our cohort forged relationships within the first few sessions. Women where sharing things they had not told even their “closest” friends and a special “trust” was born. With all our differences, we connected in a new way. One month I was a buddy with a Buddhist Priest from San Francisco, the next with a Consultant in Utah and the next a recent MBA graduate from London. These relationships supported the foundations of all the work we did, which was very important work but admittedly would not have been as impactful had I just done it alone.

There is just something so powerful about women including other women in their lives in this way and taking this life lesson journey together. I am grateful to Terri for putting this outstanding program together, her fantastic facilitation and all my cohort friends for our new relationships. There is magic when women from different countries, different stages of life and different socio-economic groups come together in this way. It is a real gift that Terri has given us! .” --Rosie, A., Director OD

"Terri is a delight to work with, a great facilitator and coach. She is professional, gives expert advice and support in a friendly and empowering way. I joined a Women Connected Programme and it was an amazing 6 months journey of self-discovery, sharing with and learning from other women. Thank you Terri for using your passion to help women to develop and empower them to thrive in their personal and professional lives." --Gbemi Akojenu

I'm so honored to have met Terri! It warms my heart to see how much she cares about people. She has inspired me to go after my dream. She has given me the tools to conquer it, and I can't thank her enough!!! Since her class I have decided to live a life with no regrets! I want to live free, bold and sometimes daring (like King Julian in that picture I sent you :-) I know I'll fall down, I know I'll get hurt, I know sometimes I'll disappoint people, but now I'm OK with that. Because of the values work she taught me, I'm figuring out when it's best to forge ahead and not look back, when it's best to jump in with both feet (or not) and when it's better to say "no" and go another direction." --Angela H, Author

Working with Terri is engaging in honest, open, and meaningful conversations that expand and create a vision of what’s possible. I gave myself a wonderful gift when we started our mastermind, she’s a living proof of the power of women joining together in intentional conversations, supporting each others' goals, and expecting the best of one another. I’ve heard her facilitating women’s groups and applaud the way she encourages amazing, purpose-seeking women to live the life of their dreams.

--Olimpia Mesa, CEO/Founder at Book to Course

"I sought out working with Terri at a point in my life where I realized I needed to make a significant change of direction in my life and career. It was time to learn to contribute back to the greater good from my heart, not my head. Terri taught me to look deeply inside myself for the answers, and to trust who I am in my reinvention. Her valuable knowledge, training as a coach, but most of all, her compassion and personal authenticity made this an enriching process of personal growth for me, and allowed me to unhook from so many fears and insecurities that I had been carrying for too long!" --Connie O., University Professor and Consultant

Those in crisis, who are victims of child abuse, have unhealed trauma, or are struggling with addictions would do best to seek professional help first. Founder Women Connected & ICF Professional Certified Coach

Terri is an Integral Coach, a group facilitator, mentor, blogger, art-journaler, wife, mom, feminist, continuous learner, and Founder of WomenConnected. net. She is passionate about women's potential and demonstrates her commitment to the development and empowerment of women both personally and professionally.

After 20 years of being the head of Learning & Leadership Development functions on Wall Street, Terri became frustrated that programs that were designated for women, were really the same programs designed for men. These programs didn't take into account the inner world of women, the way women think and operate differently from men, the collaborative preference of women vs. the command & control styles of men, the many hats that women wear in their lives, and the shifts that women need to make in order to break free of the conditioning imposed on women by our societies. As Terri began working with women around the world, she began to see that this was not just a western need, but also a global need in male-led socieities.

In 2015, Terri founded Women Connected and launched Women Connected Circles, touching a global audience. Now in 2017, she has launched the Women Connected Global School, providing transformational experiences for women to support women to expand their awareness and to empower them to fully express their talents in the world.

As a professional in the field of Learning and Adult Development, Terri uses creative, out-of-the-box approaches to designing programs that train and coach the whole woman to master her inner world so that her outer world can shift.
